Welcome to the CarusoPhoto blog. Here you will find featured images, random musings, announcements, and any other miscellanea that happens to pop into my head. RAVERAVE [I have a lot of “outtakes” from my 2016 project 366. For whatever reason, they didn’t make the cut. Now I want to share some of them.] While I was walking through Chicago’s Ravenswood neighborhood, I saw this sign on the fence of Ravenswood School. I love using composition to my advantage. ![]() GamesGames [I have a lot of “outtakes” from my 2016 project 366. For whatever reason, they didn’t make the cut. Now I want to share some of them.] This photo was taken at the end of a long, booze-soaked session of “Cards Against Humanity” with a bunch of friends last January (January 3, 2016 to be precise). I’m glad the whisky didn’t catch up to the camera before I made the photo. ![]() (366/366) New Year’s Roses(366/366) New Year’s Roses Today is the final day of my Project 366. To celebrate the conclusion of this experience I am posting a photograph of white roses in a vase painted by Karen. The roses are significant because we bought them the other day on a whim. When Karen saw them, she picked them up, put them in our basket, and said, “white roses for the new year.” That sums it up. I made a photo a day, every day, during 2016. It was a fantastic experience and I discovered a lot about my photography. I made many photographs I truly loved–and would not have made if I hadn’t been motivated by this project. Sure, I made several “clunkers” along the way, but that was the point. By making and posting a photo everyday, I was freed up to just shoot. I wasn’t worried about making a masterpiece every single day. And that is just fine. Because without the clunkers I wouldn’t have the ones that made me smile. ![]() (365/366) 25¢ Surprise(365/366) 25¢ Surprise We stopped at a taqueria for a quick bite this afternoon. While we were sitting there, I noticed this gumball machine. With “Surprise!” written four times over, how could I not be intrigued? And before you ask if I plunked down my quarter, when I looked closer I noticed it was empty. Surprise! ![]() |
